There will not be an official contest hotel, but there are many hotel options in San Luis Obispo and surrounding communities. Linked below is a sample list of hotels that are generally well-reviewed and relatively affordable, along with approximate drive times to contest locations from different areas in the county. The city of San Luis Obispo will be centrally located, but other areas in the county are not too far out of the way. PLEASE NOTE: There is a major event taking place on Cal Poly Campus ending on Saturday, April 13th (the day before the contest begins), which may lead to crowded hotels on your first night in the area. Please reserve hotel rooms as early as you are able to make sure you can find enough rooms at reasonable rates!
San Luis Obispo is served by a regional airport (SBP) that occasionally offers reasonably priced flights in and out, but much more commonly is very expensive. It's often much less expensive to fly into either the Los Angeles or San Francisco area, which are each roughly three or four hours away from SLO. Fresno is a little closer, but cheaper fares are less common. Depending on which airlines service your local airports, any of the following may prove to be the most affordable option for your team:
San Jose (SJC)
Oakland (OAK)
San Francisco (SFO)
Hollywood Burbank (BUR)
Los Angeles (LAX)
Long Beach (LGB)
It's a matter of heated debate whether the drive south from the San Francisco Bay Area or the drive north from LA is better. The answer is the drive south from the Bay Area.
